Dance and traditional costume group Harxheim

The dance and traditional costume group of the SG03 Harxheim has been very active and well known far beyond the local borders since 1963. It is an integral part of the opening event of the Harxheimer Weinhöfefest and the coronation ceremony of the Harxheimer Wine Princess. With two different groupings – traditional regional and national folklore and modern line dancing – it offers a wide spectrum for all ages.

Dance and costume group

On 30 Nobember / 01 December 1963 the folk dance group was founded on the occasion of a course of the sports youth of the district Mainz country in the sports school Seibersbach. While the first rehearsals began after Shrovetide 1964, a first training course of the freshly founded folk dance group already took place in Seibersbach in the same year. By the end of that year, the repertoire already consisted of German and international folk dances as well as square dances.

In 1975 Friedrun Roßbach took over the leadership of the folk dance group and shaped it significantly in the following years.

A detailed brochure from 1988 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary documents very clearly the emergence and work of the dance and costume group in the years 1963 to 1988.

Also in the time after 1988 the dance and costume group was and is nationally and internationally on the way, so for example in the recent past on the international Folkorefestval in San Remo, Monaco and Cannes in April 2019.

Line Dance

The line dance groups have been performing for many years on various occasions in the town and have a very wide repertoire of dances. A highlight for more than 10 years: the 4-time line dance world champion Enrico Adler regularly visits the Harxheim line dancers in a two-day intensive workshop and brings new dances and impulses.

2022 could celebrate the tenth workshop anniversary. (Due to the pandemic, the planned workshops in 2020 and 2021 could not take place).
