Harxheimer song
By Klaus-Werner Fritzsch and Joachim Geiberger
According to tradition, the Harxheimer Heimatlied was written on New Year’s Eve 1950 and was dedicated to the then mayor Friedrich Ackermann, called “Friedrich the Great” for his constant support of the SG03.
For the first time the Harxheimer homeland song was sung officially with the large närrischen meeting with ladies of the SG03 Harxheim e.V.on 20 January 1951 in the Narhalla Darmstadt to Harxheim.
The song initially had only three verses and was expanded to five verses by Willi Wucher in the course of 1951.
The melody of the song is that of the humorous march and changes to a waltz rhythm during the chorus, which caused problems for many a session band.
Willi Wucher was a true Meenzer who lived in Harxheim for several years after the war as an airplane casualty. 1)
