1 “IN THE HAMMER” (probably 17th c.)<\/strong>
The name for this field designation could be derived from the hammer-like shape of the terrain at that time or from the Middle High German word “hamel” ([steile] height), because the terrain clearly rises to the “\u00dcber R\u00fcck” area.<\/p>\n

2 “IN DEN PLATZ\u00c4CKERN” (1309)<\/strong>
The term “Platz\u00e4ckern” refers to larger, open, flat sections of land. This is consistent with the location. The 14th c. mentioned “in platzacker” may refer to a field for planting vegetables.<\/p>\n

This piece of land was originally used for grazing, which was practiced extensively in Rheinhessen.<\/p>\n

2 “IM K\u00dcCHELBERG”<\/strong>
In 1309 a field “Zu Kuchelberge vorder dem Rich” (“Rich” = Rech) situated towards L\u00f6rzweiler is attested. A rech is a smaller slope typical of our landscape between parcels located one above the other, or a fairly steep, side slope along a hollow way. Already in 1368 appears the name “Kuechelberge” and in the 17th century. the present name of the field. “K\u00fcchel-” is quite certainly related to the Middle High German term “k\u00f6che” (throwing up earth), which is lower in contrast to the mountain. Accordingly, it is a smaller mountain, which fits the appearance of the terrain.<\/p>\n
