1 “BEHIND HAUSEN” (1304)<\/strong>
The name “Hinter Hausen”, in which Middle High German “h\u00fbsen” has been preserved, indicates old and good vineyards, which were always located on southern slopes behind the houses, i.e. in the immediate vicinity of the village. There is said to have been a Fronhof below the corridor in the past, which may have played a role in the origin of the name.<\/p>\n

THE SAUERBERG INCLUDES THE FLUREN <\/strong><\/p>\n

Originally, this was pasture land. The adjective “sour” (Middle High German “s\u00fbr”), widely used in Germanic languages, identifies the terrain as wet and marshy and the quality of the grass growing there as inferior.<\/p>\n

3 “AM RINDSPFAD” (1373), locally also “RINDSSTEIG” (1772)<\/strong>
The names probably denote a path or steeply rising path (Steige) that led to a pasture used mainly by cattle. Numerous other evidence of this corridor with “Rennsteig” can also indicate a developed and thus quickly passable long-distance route.<\/p>\n
